Please read all information carefully! Ski Sundown has new RFID cards & registration processes this year!
Registration will open on Friday, 9/25 @ 9 AM.
If the program is full, please sign up for the wait list! Once we have enough registrations, we will add a second bus.

Come ski and board at Ski Sundown this winter! A coach bus will pick up participants and chaperones at HJMS right after school to ski from 3 to 7 PM. Participants have the option to take lessons or ski on their own during this time. The coach bus will return to HJMS at 7:30 PM for parent pick-up. 
There a limited number of spaces available for this program. 

This program depends on parent volunteers! Please sign-up to volunteer if you can chaperone all or a few weeks of the program. The program will not run if we do not have enough parent chaperones. Chaperones can ski/board during the program for free, but do not need to. As a thank you, chaperones receive lift tickets at the end of the program depending on the number of days they helped.

2027 Program Dates: Tuesdays (1/5, 2/12, 1/19, 1/26, and 2/2)
For 1/6, 1/13, 1/27, and 2/3, the bus picks up students right after HJMS dismissal (2:15 PM) and will be back to HJMS for parent pick up at 7:30 PM.
Please Note:
1/19 is a half day at HJMS. The ski bus will pick students up after dismissal (11:30 AM). Students can ski from 12 PM-4 PM, and then the bus will be back to HJMS for parent pick up at 4:30 PM.

NEW THIS YEAR!
All participants must register for the bus seat online at SimsburyRec.com. 
Once registered for the bus seat, families will receive a link to the Ski Sundown portion of registration (waivers, lift tickets, lessons, and rentals). Families will be required to create a Ski Sundown account. More detailed instructions will be sent once your student is registered for the bus seat.
Below are the 2027 Ski Sundown Prices for the 5 week program in addition to the bus seat cost:
Lift Only: $240
Lesson & Lift: $380
Passholder Lesson: $225
Equipment Rental: $151

(As always- if your student has a season pass to Ski Sundown, they only need to purchase the bus seat)

Registration Deadlines (registration will close sooner if the program fills up):
- Registration will open at 9 AM on 9/29.
- 11/2: Registration Deadline
- 11/2-11/20: An additional $25 late fee is added on to program registration. Please email chuysman@simsbury-ct.gov if you're interested in registering late.
- After 11/20, registration is closed and no participants can be added.

Ski Program Notices and Policies

Please read the following info on registration, refunds, and our behavior policy. You must answer yes that you have read and understand the policies to proceed with this registration.

1. REGISTRATION IS LIMITED to students on a first come, first served basis.

2. REFUNDS For BUS SEAT from Rec Dept. will only be granted for medical reasons (meaning child is unable to ski for the remainder of trip schedule, doctor's note is required). Refunds will not be granted if a child cannot attend a trip; however, their ski badge will be eligible to make up the missed day (excluding black out dates).

3. SKI SUNDOWN'S REFUND POLICY: (This applies to all fees except the $ for the bus seat) Full refund less $25.00 administrative fee will be given if request is made in writing and received by Ski Sundown from the group leader prior to January 1, 2027.
In case of injury or illness mid-season, a protection policy is included in registration and Ski Sundown will reimburse the cost of your program on a prorated basis. The illness or injury must be confirmed by a letter from a licensed physician, and the refund request must be received from the group leader prior to end of season.

4. TRIP CANCELLATIONS will be announced at the school on the day of the trip and also via the email address that you use for this registration. If school is closed due to the weather conditions, the trip is canceled. Make-ups will be rescheduled if approved by Ski Sundown.


RULES

1. ANY STUDENT WHO IS MISBEHAVING, DISRESPECTFUL, USING VULGARITIES, OR ANY OTHER DISRUPTIVE BEHAVIOR, OR WHO, IN THE GROUP LEADER’S OPINION, IS DETRIMENTAL TO THE TRIP, WILL BE BANNED FROM THE PROGRAM. NO REFUNDS WILL BE ISSUED FOR THESE REASONS. IT IS ALSO THE STUDENT’S RESPONSIBILITY TO RETURN TO THE BUS AT THE DESIGNATED TIME. FAILURE TO DO SO MAY RESULT IN A SUSPENSION FROM THE PROGRAM WITHOUT A REFUND

2. SKI EQUIPMENT must be brought into the school through the gym lobby entrance of HJMS and will be stored in a locked closet in the hallway where the girls’ locker room is located. At the end of school students should go and gather their equipment and meet the buses out in the back parking lot by the soccer fields. Skiers will not be allowed back into the school when they return from Ski Sundown. They should plan to carry along anything they need to take home. Telephone calls are not allowed in the school.

3. Buses will leave Ski Sundown at 7:00PM. It is the parent’s responsibility to be at the HJMS school parking lot at 7:30pm. Skier will forfeit package if parent can not comply.

LOST AND FOUND INFORMATION

Gear must be labeled! Many season long rentals look the same. Ensure your child's gear is labeled so they do not miss out on ski time. The best way to mark your child's name on skis and snowboards is with duct tape.
