The Simsbury Community Gardens are on Sand Hill Rd., behind Ethel Walker School. They offer fun and relaxing gardening for those who live in condos or apartments, or in wooded areas with limited sun. There is also an organic area for those who are concerned about pesticides and genetically altered vegetables. The plots are plowed and tilled in late April or early May, depending on the weather. Small plots of 600 square feet are $40, and large plots of 1350 square feet are $70 for the whole season, which ends October 31st.
Gardeners are responsible for removing all their items by October 31st so the tractor will not be damaged when it is plowing everything under for the winter.
The cost of the plot includes a $25.00 end of season clean up deposit. At the end of the season, you must submit a picture of your cleaned plot with your plot number showing. Once this is received, a $25.00 credit will be applied to your recreation account, or we will provide a $25.00 refund, if requested.
ONLY LAST YEAR'S GARDENERS MAY REGISTER BETWEEN MARCH 1ST - MARCH 7TH AND THEY WILL SECURE THE SAME PLOT THEY HAD LAST YEAR. New gardeners, as well as gardeners from last year who want a different plot, may register starting March 8th. Once you register, you will be assigned a plot number by lottery. Lot numbers will be assigned by the first week of April. Gardeners must print out the linked Reservation Form (below) and mail it to the Simsbury Recreation Dept. with their signature to finalize their reservation.

To choose a plot
Click on the plot map 2023 link, to see which plot number you had last year. When you are registering, you will come to a screen that asks you to type in the plot number you want, please enter the plot number you had last year. If you are registering for the first time this year, or would like a different plot than you had last year, plot numbers will be assigned by lottery. Complete your registration online with your credit card. Remember to go to the community gardens Registration Form link below and print that out. You must mail that in with your signature to confirm your reservation.
