Field Hockey - Farmington Valley Girls Field Hockey League
The towns of Simsbury, Avon, Granby, Canton, Harwinton, Farmington and Wethersfield are working together on the Farmington Valley Girls Field Hockey League. Teams will be formed in each town consisting of players in grades 5 & 6. Teams will practice during the week in their respective towns and games will be played on Sunday afternoons in the various communities.
Practices are held at HJMS.
Practice Schedule:
- Practice days will be announced at the end of August once coaches are confirmed. If your player can not attend the practice days, you will have one week to request a refund.
Game Schedule: Sundays @ 2:30 PM
- 9/13, 9/20, 9/27, 10/4, 10/18, 10/25
- No games on 10/11.
- Make up date if needed will be on 11/1.
- Locations will be announced at the start of the season.
The 5th & 6th grade team will play 8 v 8 games with no goalie. Players will need to bring shinguards, eye protection, mouth guards, cleats or sneakers, a stick and water. Jerseys will be provided. This is an instructional league, and scores will not be kept during games. Games will be run as 4, 15 minute quarters this season. Cones will be used to mark goals, unless the school has an easily movable goal, at which time actual goals can be used at the coaches' discretion.
IMPORTANT NOTE: There can be no jewelry worn at practices or games this includes ear rings or other piercings.
