Yoga Vs. Osteoporosis - Yoga to Prevent & Reverse Bone Loss

Participants will learn a 12-pose sequence that has been shown to build bone, whether you have osteoporosis or osteopenia, or are healthy.  In over 125,000 hours of people doing this sequence, no fractures or other significant injuries have been reported or show in x-rays.  http://sciatica.org/
                               
Each pose in the sequence is taught in three versions: a beginner pose, a classic pose and transitional pose, that essentially bridges the gap between beginner and the classic poses.  Each version builds bone and coordination, in addition to lowering anxiety and increasing overall good health, including pranayama (breath work), spine anatomy and much more.

In this 6-week course you will learn:
-The twelve essential yoga poses
-Breath work -pranyama
-Mindfulness/relaxation
-Anatomy directly related to specific poses

Requirements: Comfortable clothing, yoga mat (thin not spongy), 2 blocks, 1 yoga strap, and blanket (mexican style)

About The Instructor - Darlene Barnes
Darlene is a registered 500 Hour Embodyoga® teacher, certified osteoporosis instructor and is a former nurse with Bachelor's Degree in Health Studies. Darlene provides expert guidance to each student addressing their specific needs adjusting to their comfort level specifically applying the guidelines for safety and accuracy allowing the student to advance accordingly.
