March Yin/Restorative Yoga & Yoga Nidra
Friday, March 24th, 5:30-6:30 PM
In Spring, just as nature enters a cycle of renewal, growth & expansion-so does the energy within us. The passive yin & restorative poses will go deeper to the inner layers (joints & organs) with a focus on the liver & gallbladder organs of Spring & detoxification. These longer held poses allow the body to clear toxins, negativity, stagnation & darkness. This invites in expansive light to stir your soul as an invocation to the rise of Spring inside & out. Then, snuggle in with your blanket(s) with Yoga Nidra, a gentle meditation that systematically relaxes & releases each layer of the body & mind. Please bring yoga mat, blankets (2 if possible), blocks (if you have them) & water. All levels welcome.
About the Instructor: Julie Erasmus
I began practicing and studying yoga over 20 years ago in Santa Fe, NM. My journey has been influenced by a desire to find balance through awareness, honoring both the light and dark aspects of life, the seen and unseen energies. I am a Certified Yoga Instructor with training in a variety of yogic traditions including Iyengar, Ashtanga, Vinyasa Flow, Yin and SATYA. I have deeply appreciated the teaching influences of Seane Corn (Vinyasa Flow, Detox Yoga & the Chakras), Sarah Powers (Yin & Yang Yoga) & Beryl Bender Birch (Power Yoga & Mindfulness-as we age) and most recently Tias Little (Subtle Body & Sensory Awareness Training for Yoga). I find inspiration and refuge when I am outside in nature, whether hiking, biking, walking, sitting or stargazing. One of the gifts of yoga is that it invites me inside, to connect with my internal landscape for compassion, guidance & illumination. My classes integrate vinyasa flow with posture alignment & core support.
