Every swimmer belongs here!
This program is thoughtfully designed for individuals who learn best in a calm, supportive, and flexible environment, including swimmers with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other sensory sensitivities. Our approach honors each participant as capable, unique, and worthy of success, meeting them exactly where they are. Lessons focus on water safety, confidence, mobility, and comfort in and around the water, using teaching strategies that are gentle, engaging, and individualized. Instruction is non-leveled and personalized, allowing swimmers to progress at their own pace while building skills in a way that feels safe, empowering, and enjoyable. Small-group instruction ensures that every swimmer receives the attention and encouragement they deserve.
This five-week program is held at the Simsbury Farms Recreation Pool, intentionally scheduled to create a sensory-friendly environment with reduced noise and distractions. During the first class, instructors will complete an individual assessment to determine whether a parent or caregiver should be in the water to support safety and comfort. Class sizes are intentionally limited to a maximum of 9 swimmers, with a 3:1 student-to-instructor ratio, allowing for meaningful connections, clear communication, and individualized support. Here, progress is celebrated in every form, whether it’s a first splash, a moment of calm, or a new skill mastered. This is a place to build confidence, feel supported, and experience success in the water together!
