The Town’s Culture, Parks and Recreation Department is a source of community pride and is responsible for the operation of parks, recreational facilities and programs which contribute to the community’s environment, needs and interests. The services and programs provided by the Department are important factors in the quality of life in the community, and are integral to the Town’s health, welfare and attractiveness.  The Department provides a variety of programs from arts and crafts to summer camps, athletics, music, and specialty programs. Many of these activities take place at various park facilities throughout the Town. Indoor programming primarily takes place at the Simsbury Farms Recreation Complex. Maintenance of the Town’s parks, facilities and open spaces are managed by the Culture, Parks and Recreation Department. In addition to the Director, there is one full-time Recreation Supervisor and one part-time Program Coordinator, one Administrative Secretary, ten full-time parks maintenance staff and four full-time golf maintenance staff. The department also employs approximately ninety seasonal and part-time and staff. Most are hired as part-time help during the summer recreation period.
