Simsbury Sprinters is open to everyone ranging from swimmers at a higher level of competition to those who are beginners. Win or lose, slow or fast, the emphasis is on doing one’s best as an individual and as a team. We are so sure that your child will enjoy being of member of the Simsbury Sprinters Swim Team, that if for any reason they don’t, you will receive a full refund for the program.
COACH BIO: Grant Gritzmacher has had over 30 years of competitive swimming and diving experience as an athlete and coach, including five years as head coach of Simsbury Sprinters! He’s spent over 10 years as head swim coach at Westminster School and with the local USA Swimming club. He’s also serving as Dean of Students, Science teacher, and Dorm Parent at Westminster. As an athlete he’s been 3-time NCAA Division 1 All-American in Diving at the University of Texas, 2nd-time Junior National Champion, and 5-time Junior National Team Member in diving, 3-time High School All American National Champion in diving, High School All-American in Swimming, and a qualifier for Junior National Championship in swimming!
Parental assistance with the Swim Team Parents Association is essential.
Prerequisite: Swimmer must take a swim test and demonstrate the ability to swim one length of the pool using a freestyle stroke. Refunds will be given for those who do not meet requirements. Test Date TBA. Practices held at Simsbury Farms. This program is for swimmers up to age 18. The swim team provides coaching and instruction in competitive swimming techniques.
