Food Explorers- After School Register View Cart

food explorers logoBecome a Food Explorer this spring and learn all about nutritious and delicious food! You’ll explore the five food groups through taste tests and games, and make delicious recipes. In this tasty camp, you’ll also learn about the importance of eating locally, foods from different cultures, food marketing and added sugars. Be prepared to taste new foods, learn new skills and new recipes. All recipes will be nut free, snack and supper will be included daily. This program is held at the Simsbury Farms Apple Barn.

March: Spring Baking 
Join Food Explorers for some seasonal and tasty spring desserts! Each week you’ll bake something delicious. You’ll be making: Black Forest Cake Bites, Cannoli Cones, Mini Lemon Pies and Peach Cobbler Cups. All recipes are nut free but may contain dairy and/or eggs.
 
April: Dinner Club
Join Food Explorers for spring dinner club! You’ll make your own dinner each week using fresh and seasonal ingredients. You’ll be making: Loaded Avocado Boats, Greek Tacos, Burritos and Cheesy Broccoli Skillets. All recipes are nut free but may contain dairy and/or eggs.





Covid Policy: We will follow any BOE & Town policies for indoor mask wearing that are in place at the time of the program.

Behavior Policy
Rules, Behavior, and Discipline Policy
Participants will be responsible for following ALL program rules as listed below:
*Participants must be respectful to other participants, staff, and facilities and equipment at all times.
*Participants must remain in designated program areas at all times unless escorted by an instructor.
*Participants must stay with their instructor at all times.
*Participants must use appropriate language with other participants and staff at all times.
*Participants are only permitted to leave the program when they are signed out by a parent/guardian or other
authorized person.

All children are expected to behave in a proper and respectful manner. We will not tolerate any physical violence, name calling, foul language, destruction of property, or any other behavior deemed inappropriate by the staff. In accordance with the severity and frequency of the behavior, a behavior tracking form may be completed and kept on file. Parents will be notified and receive a copy of any such form. If warranted, the Recreation Department reserves the right to dismiss or suspend any child from the program. No refunds will be given.
