Food Explorers: Fall & Winter • Register • View Cart •

food explorers logoJoin Food Explorers this school year to learn all about food, cooking and baking. Each week, children will make or bake a brand new recipe and explore new flavors, ingredients and cooking techniques. With a focus on Food Neutrality, Food Explorers classes aim to empower and inspire children to create delicious food, gain confidence in the kitchen and focus on the skills and experiences of cooking. All recipes are nut free and one recipe will be made each week. Recipes may contain dairy, eggs and/or gluten.

Session 2: Holiday Desserts
Tuesdays, 11/26-12/17
5-6 PM
3rd-6th Grade
Join Food Explorers for delicious holiday desserts! Each week you’ll make a dessert inspired by favorite holiday flavors and foods. You’ll be making: Chocolate Orange Brownie Bites, Tiramisu Pies, Gingerbread Mini Donuts, Biscoff Banana Trifles. All recipes are nut-free but may contain dairy, eggs, and gluten.

Session 3: Chocolate Confections
Fridays, 1/17-2/7 (makeup on 2/21)

3rd-6th Grade
Join Food Explorers for a celebration of chocolate! Each week you’ll make a deliciously sweet chocolate confection. You’ll be making: Chocolate Pancake Tacos, Chocolate Mini Donuts with Chocolate Glaze, Chocolate Strawberry Cheesecake Cups, Chocolate Orange Pies. All recipes are nut-free but may contain dairy, eggs, and gluten.

Session 4: Fruity Delights
Fridays, 2/28-3/28 (no class 3/14, makeup on 4/3)
5-6 PM
3rd-6th Grade
Join Food Explorers for a 4-week dessert class devoted to fabulous fruits! You’ll be making: Pineapple Dream Pies, Peaches & Cream Whoopie Pies, Mango Croissant Bites, Lemon Blueberry Donuts. All recipes are nut-free but may contain dairy, eggs, and gluten.

Behavior Policy
Rules, Behavior, and Discipline Policy
Participants will be responsible for following ALL program rules as listed below:
*Participants must be respectful to other participants, staff, and facilities and equipment at all times.
*Participants must remain in designated program areas at all times unless escorted by an instructor.
*Participants must stay with their instructor at all times.
*Participants must use appropriate language with other participants and staff at all times.
*Participants are only permitted to leave the program when they are signed out by a parent/guardian or other
authorized person.

All children are expected to behave in a proper and respectful manner. We will not tolerate any physical violence, name calling, foul language, destruction of property, or any other behavior deemed inappropriate by the staff. In accordance with the severity and frequency of the behavior, a behavior tracking form may be completed and kept on file. Parents will be notified and receive a copy of any such form. If warranted, the Recreation Department reserves the right to dismiss or suspend any child from the program. No refunds will be given.
