Simsbury Junior Cross Country is open to all 7th & 8th graders in Simsbury! The team will meet twice a week to practice. Runners will receive a team tee shirt.Season: 9/2-11/3Monday & Thursday practices2:30 PM-3:45Please note: The first practice will be on Tuesday instead of Monday due to Labor Day. After the first week, practices will be Monday and Thursdays.Practices: The team will meet at SHS and run into Stratton Brook State park for practices. Students should arrive at SHS ready to run, the team will have no access to the school. Students should bring a water bottle.HJMS students will be able to take buses from HJMS to SHS for practice. More info to follow!Meets:The team will have opportunities to run meets against other local middle schools. These meets are optional but encouraged. The first meet will be on 9/6 at the Stratton Brook Invitational to kick off the start of the season.The season will conclude with the CT Middle School State Championships. This 6-week clinic will introduce 1st- 4th graders to the game of field hockey. No experience is necessary- beginners to experienced players are welcome. Participants should bring their own stick, mouth guard, shin guards, eye gear (recommended, not required) and plenty of water! Please bring any reversible pinnie with a dark side and light side for scrimmaging. Sneakers or cleats are required for this program. This clinic will be run by SHS head coach, Taylor Reynolds and high school players.There may be a few scrimmages set up with other Farmington Valley programs.Practice Dates: Saturdays, 9 AM-10 AM9/13-10/25Please note there is no practice on Saturday, 10/11.Saturday, 11/1, will be reserved as a rain date if needed.Not sure how to get measured for a field hockey stick? Fall Soccer Shots Registration will open on 7/24 at 6 AM.Start early and learn from the pros at Soccer Shots! Your child will have a blast participating in soccer related drills, games and fun! Programs are an 8 week session. Rain cancellations will be emailed out. Practices will be held at Weatogue Park.Soccer Shots Classic, For Ages 3-5Utilizing creative and imaginative games we will focus on basic soccer skills like dribbling, passing and shooting. We also highlight a positive character trait each session such as respect, teamwork and appreciation.Soccer Shots Mini, For Age 2We will be introducing children to fundamental soccer principles, such as using your feet, dribbling and the basic rules of the game. Through fun games, songs and positive reinforcement, children will begin to experience the joy of playing soccer and being active.WHAT YOU WILL NEED: Bring water, snack, and appropriate footwear. Runners will receive a team tee shirt.Season: 9/2-11/3Monday & Thursday practices2:30 PM-3:45Please note: The first practice will be on Tuesday instead of Monday due to Labor Day. After the first week, practices will be Monday and Thursdays.Practices: The team will meet at SHS and run into Stratton Brook State park for practices. Students should arrive at SHS ready to run, the team will have no access to the school. Students should bring a water bottle.HJMS students will be able to take buses from HJMS to SHS for practice. More info to follow!Meets:The team will have opportunities to run meets against other local middle schools. These meets are optional but encouraged. The first meet will be on 9/6 at the Stratton Brook Invitational to kick off the start of the season.The season will conclude with the CT Middle School State Championships.
